Byron "The Curator" Gonzalez serves as Brand Manager, Program & Music Director, Social Media Manager, and Promotions Director for Bilingual Sounds 88.5 HD3 (a station of The SoCal Sound). He began his radio journey as an intern when the HD3 channel was still branded as Latin Alt HD3, at a time when the HD3 station had no dedicated staff member.

In this new public radio environment Byron discovered a unique niche: a 24/7 Latin-alternative format unlike anything across the U.S. Over the subsequent six years he has shaped the station's evolution, spearheading its transformation into Bilingual Sounds 88.5 HD3 to reflect his inclusive vision; blending English and Spanish music. He insists that Latin music remains at the core of Bilingual Sounds 88.5 HD3, but also embraces music in other languages and stories from diverse cultures, to better reflect the interconnected world we live in.

As host of the Cafecito morning show, Byron curates a deeply textured listening experience. His leadership has recently secured a syndication partnership with the bilingual public-radio station Avanza 88.3 FM KUUB in Salt Lake City, Utah, expanding his influence beyond Los Angeles.

Born in Guatemala City and raised in Los Angeles, Byron studied radio broadcasting at Santa Monica College and later at California State University, Northridge. His sharp ear and cultural insight drive an eclectic mix that spans indie, new wave, rock, soul, cumbia, pop, R&B, electronic, and hip hop, finding harmony across borders and genres.

Beyond the studio, Byron embodies the creative pulse of Southern California. He's on a mission to represent multicultural communities through sound, championing connection and unity through alternative music. When he's not curating playlists, he's cycling on the Burbank bike path, cooking, stargazing, or giving every dog he meets a friendly scratch behind the ear.
